Gambia U-20 Move to Congo Today

After the completion of a week training camp in South Africa, the Gambia National U-20 would finally move to Brazzaville, Congo today Wednesday January 18th 2007.

The Darling Young Scorpions, who left Banjul on Tuesday January 9th, 2007, played two international friendly matches in South Africa.

On Sunday 14th January the Youth Scorpions defeated South African U-20 by 3-0.

Gambian captain Ken Malamin Jammeh opened the scores for the Gambia; Pa Modou Jagne netted the second before Abdulie Mansally alias Ken authored the third goal.

In their second outing on Tuesday 16th January, the Young Scorpions registered their second victory against South Africa premier league club, Orlando Pirates’ U-20 team.

The game ended 2-0 in favour of Coach Bonu Johnson’s side.

Captain Ken Malamin Jammeh again registered his name on the score sheet before Abdulie Mansally alias Ken netted the second goal for the Gambia.

The delegation headed by GFA second Vice President Alhagie Mass Axi Gai would move to their base in Brazzaville today.

The Gambia is in group A along side the Host Congo, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire.

The team would kick off their campaign on Saturday 20th January 2007 against the Young Etalons of Burkina Faso.
