Ten winners of the Western Union raffle, on Saturday, received each US$10,000 cheque at a grand draw ceremony held at the Trust Bank branch, located Westfield, Serrekunda.
The winners were Fatou Bojang, a resident of Sukuta, Momodou Musa Jagne at Fajara, Baboucarr Barry from Brikama, Antony Ekuwide Kololi, Hassan Jallow from London Corner, Abdoulie Barry Njawara, North Bank Region, Neneh Tamba at Pipeline, Biram Jobe, Abdou Wadda and Fatou Jobe all from Banjul.
The Western Union agents, Standard Chartered Bank, sponsored two prizes, while Trust Bank and other agents, sponsored the eight prizes.
Speaking at the occasion, Reina Joiner, a senior official of Trust Bank, said it is a phenomenon that at the end of the year to see people exchange gifts and well wishes with friends, relatives and love ones. Mr Joiner indicated that the end of year Western Union draw was geared towards the promotion of sharing with the customers. ”Customers who received or sent monies through Western Union, during the period 21 December 2006 to 15 January 2007, were automatically qualified for the raffle draw of US$10,000 to be share among 10 lucky winners each.,” he added.
Alagie Faal, a representative of Standard Chartered Bank, informed the gathering that his bank work in partnership on all the Western Union common campaigns, such as the back to school and end of year draw geared. Mr Faal, expressed delight and gratitude on behalf Standard Chartered Bank to their value customers.
Francis Gomez, acting Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, thanked Western Union agents in the country for giving back to society. He described the raffle draw as a humanitarian gesture.
