Hon. Bala Garba Jahumpa, the Gambia’s Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Venezuela who was recently suspected of alleged involvement in a passport and visa scandal, has been absolved from involvement in the scam after police investigating the scandal cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Mr Jahumpa was among four government functionaries who were arrested sometime last week following the discovery of passport and visa scandal at the Foreign Affairs Department.
However, according to the police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Sulayman Secka, Hon. Bala Garba Jahumpa has been exonerated in the said passport and visa scandal because his ‘hands are clean.’
Meanwhile, the fates of the remaining three alleged culprits are still not yet decided as they are yet to be cleared by the police.
When contacted yesterday, Bala Garba Jahumpa, who is viewed in many quarters of the Gambian society as President Jammeh’s right hand man, confirmed his the development, adding: “I am now concentrating on the campaign strategy of the APRC for the upcoming local government elections which the APRC will win with landslide victory.”
