A five-day workshop for Training Centre Managers and Section Heads, organised by the National Training Authority (NTA), yesterday, kicked-off at the Seaview Garden Hotel in Kololi.
The five-day forum is aimed at developing and further promoting core areas of capacity-building, with a view to improve on the standards.
Participants are expected to brainstorm on a wide range of topics, including institutional management, educational policy and planning curriculum development, health and safety, compliance, quality management and record management.
Ousman Nyang, Director General, NTA, in his welcome remarks, said the forum is earmarked for human resource development, thus the need for training in the country. He added that the training is another demonstration of goodwill to continue the reform process and procedures for the delivery of quality skills training in The Gambia.
In his opening remarks, Dr Saidou Jallow, P.S, Department of State for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, who delivered a statement, on behalf of Abdoulie Momodou Sallah, Secretary of State for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, said in March this year, he addressed representatives of training institutions.
SOS Sallah further stated that quality in educational provision is defined as the delivery of professional services that’s in consistent with pre-difined standards and specifications.
Other speakers at the opening included Momodou Bittaye, acting Director, Quality Assurance and Edmond Shonubi, Information Specialist, who chaired the opening ceremony.
