Falou Joof, a taxi driver, on Tuesday testified in the D1.2 million alleged theft case at Sunu Kerr involving Momodou Yaya Jobe, former branch manager, Sunu Kerr Banjul branch, and Modou Camara.

The accused persons who were responsible for stocktaking at the Sunu Kerr (MFH) branch were indicted by the audit report conducted by the company.

In his testimony before Principal Magistrate BY Camara of the Banjul Magistrates Court, Mr Joof, who served as a witness for the first accused, told the court that he used to transport goods to the first accused for delivery to one Hadim Gaye. He said he used to call Mr Jobe on the telephone anytime he delivered goods to  the recipient to confirm delivery.

Mr Joof said although he cannot sign, he always asked any of Mr Gaye’s employees at the shop to sign the delivery logbook to acknowledge the supply.

He told the court that he does not know the value of the items, but was quick to add that the goods are very expensive, as they comprised watertanks, paints, and mobile phones, among others.

He confirmed that he used to take the goods to Hadim Gaye upon the request of the first accused. “Mr Gaye never asked me to collect goods for him from the first accused on his behalf,” he confirmed.
