The Office of the Ombudsman on Wednesday presented its annual report for the past two years to Dr Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy, Vice-President and Secretary of State for Women’s Affairs at her office at State House, Banjul.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his audience with Vice-President Njie-Saidy, Mr. Junaidi GO Jallow, acting Ombudsman said their discussion centered on annual reports for the last two years. He said the visit is also meant to pay a courtesy call on the Vice President.

“The reports entailed the complaints received, the way we dealt with them and the conclusions derived from it,” he said.

He disclosed that ‘they had about 300 complaints for the past two years, all of which were completed by 80%, while all the cases for the 3rd year are completed by 100%’.

Mr. Jallow added that the Ombudsman is like a referee in a field of play, saying “it is there to address complaints based on the facts provided from both parties”.

The Ombudsman boss then revealed that his office will soon open a regional branch in Basse for Upper River and Central River Regions.

Mr. Jallow was accompanied to State House by Ebou Faye, Director of Investigation, Pierre Secka, Principal Investigator and Samba Mbaye, Accountant.
