The heated brawl that ensued between the Guinean contingent and staff of the Sarge Hotel after their 2-0 win over the Scorpions on Saturday has been amicably resolved - thanks to the timely intervention of Mr. Sheikh Omar Faye, SoS for Youth, Sports & Religious Affairs.
The management of Sarge Hotel had earlier on vowed not to accommodate any football team again because of the unlawful behaviour of the Guinean team which saw the hotel properties vandalised and looted.
However, Sarge Hotel retracted its decision yesterday when SoS Faye took the bull by the horns and paid a special visit to the hotel to make a formal apology to the staff and management of the hotel for any inconvenience the fracas must have caused.
When contacted yesterday by Observer Sports, SoS Faye confirmed that the crisis had been resolved after a meeting with Sarge hotel management.
“We met the Sarge Hotel management to apologise for the inconvenience and they have accepted our apology in good faith.”
SoS Faye, who arranged for the accommodation of the Guinean team in the hotel, said the hotel management was very much furious with the behaviour of the Guinean players, but have decided to bury the hatchet after his apology.
Reacting to Saturday’s match, SoS Faye said the Scorpions had a good game in the first interval only to slip in the second half after some changes. He said the technical people will find out what went wrong and try to resolve the matter.
