Banjul Breweries golf tourney ends

The yearly Julbrew sponsored golf tournament was held on Sunday the April 15 at Fajara Golf Club.

The tournament which started in the morning after a few words from the Captain and Mr Chris Steinwehe Chairman of Banjul Breweries.

The professionals were the first to compete on Saturday. After a very pleasant round Alhagie Drammeh won with a score of par 69 while Lamin Darboe finished second with 71 points. Bakary Touray finished third with 74 points.

In the Men’s Division One of handicap 1 to 16. Vimal Shah, the captain won with one under par 68, Ronaldo Delgreco was runner up with 69 and third place was taken by K. Kitihara also at 69 points.

In the Men’s Division Two of handicap 17 to 28, Ebrima Jawara grasped the winner on 69 par followed by runner up Aman Saleem at 69 and third place Horst Voss on 72.

In the Ladies category, Sharon Mears scored 62 under par to finish on top while Haddy Cham finished as close runners up on 74. The third place was taken by Susanna Lanfermeijer on 75 points.

Tony Banna won the Seniors on 74 points while the Overall Best Bross was won by Ronaldo Delgreco on 75 points.

The Longest Drive on hole no. 1 was won by Linda Lanarch in Ladies category while Steve Tiffiny won same in the Men’s category.

Nearest to Pin on hole no. 6 was won by vimal shah and most golf was won by John Ryan with 97 points. Excellent prizes were given to all the winners and Vimal Shah thanked the sponsors for giving the golfing fraternity at the Fajara the opportunity to host such a fine tournament. The Chairman Mr Chris Steinwehe appreciate the large turnout for the tournament. He said the club will host another tournament on the November 10, 2007 when Banjul Breweries will celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Kairaba Beach Hotel tournament will take place on Saturday, April 21 with the tee-off time at scheduled at 2.00pm.
