Thursday, June 14, 2007

The Gambia Police Force, through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, recently received two digital alcohol-testing machines from a Gambian based in Germany, Dawda Sarr.

The machines are mainly used on suspected drunkards, especially on drivers suspected of being in the influence of alcohol.

The equipment, said to be very expensive and could not be found on sale in The Gambia, are extremely essential in the service of the police force.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Banjul, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Modou Gaye, thanked Dawda Sarr for what he described as a magnificent gesture, saying that the items would greatly enhance and supplement the efforts of the Police in combating drinking-driving problems in the country.

He also thanked Mr. Sarr for showing patriotism and urged him to remain committed to the security, welfare and development of The Gambia.

He said Mr. Sarr had been given a helping hand to the Police while describing him as a true patriot of his country.

Mr. Sarr, for his part, assured the police authority of his continued commitment and support to the cause of the Gambian police force.
