The Banjul Magistrates’ Court would today begin hearing into the D115,000 fraud case brought against one Demba Jawla by the state.

Mr. Jawla was charged with issuing a false cheque as well as obtaining credit by false pretence.

According to the particulars of the first count, Jawla sometime in June of this year, obtained D115,000 from one Pateh Kebbeh in Banjul and under false pretence.

The details of the second count read that Jawla on or about 18 June 2007, issued Kebbeh with a false Trust Bank cheque knowing fully well that he had insufficient funds in his account.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and hearing is expected to begin today.
