The Banjul Sports Committee will stage a competition called the Banjul League tournament. This competition will give an opportunity to players, who do not have the chance of playing in the GFA League, to showcase their talents.

According to Ebou Faye Secretary General of the Banjul Sports Committee, the competition is geared towards preparing young talents and teams that have the ambition of competing in the GFA league next year.

He said only unregistered GFA players and Banjul teams will qualify to take part in the competition.

The registration fee is D2000 and must be made before the 15th March 2008 to either Bacha or Ndongo.

“This is an opportunity for all teams especially nawetaans teams that are contemplating transforming their teams to divisional teams and also for players who are considered surplus to requirements by the divisional clubs,” he explained.

Faye said the competition will also contribute toward the production and nurturing of young talents.
