The Upper Fulladu District Authority last Monday held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Bansang to discuss issues of candid concern to the area.

During the meeting participants discussed exhaustively about ways of combating cattle rustling, bush fire, rampant logging  and   other issues relating to aliens and the forthcoming local government elections.

Speaking at the AGM, the National Assembly member for the area, Hon Muhamed Jallow, urged the people of Upper Fulladu to make fire belts around the forest as a way of protecting it, elucidating that bush fire could lead to wind erosion.
Turning to issue of aliens, Hon Jallow called on the people in the area to monitor the movements  of aliens. He also expressed the need for aliens to regularize their documentation.

The District head chief, Seyfo Biran Baldeh complained about what he called ‘ the rampant logging going on in the area’, appealing to the residents to conserve the forest. Seyfo Baldeh further  pointed out  that ‘since we are now in the dry season extra measures should be taken to protect the forest’, reiterating  that  bush fire damages the flora and fauna.

Buttressing on  cattle rustling, Inspector Ceesay made a passionate appeal to akalolu   to be cautious  about  how they issue  papers to cattle dealers,  adding that all hands must be on deck to tackle the problem  of cattle rustling .

For his part, the Constituency Chairman, Gibril Chendo Boye, advised aspiring candidates in the forthcoming local government elections to preach peace and unity   through out their campaign period.
