KAC donates a boat to Barajally Suba

Kuntaur Area Council (KAC) last Tuesday, embarked on welfare services, characterised by the donation of a boat with an engine to the community of Barajally Suba, in the Niani district, Central Region North.

Estimated to cost over ninety-nine thousand Dalasi (D99,000), the donated materials were handed over to the community by Ganyie Touray, Governor of CRR during a colourful ceremony.

In his address, Governor Ganyie Touray spoke at length about the importance of the boat, noting that it will go a long way towards improving agricultural productivity, as well as the daily income of the community. He said people’s empowerment is President Jammeh’s priority, adding that their action contributed in making the project a reality. He urged them to make the best use of the boat and to maintain it properly. Mr Touray thanked the community for providing rice fields for President Jammeh. He further commended the Kuntaur Area Council, for such a wonderful gesture.

Mam Sait Jallow, Chief Executive Officer of the Council, said the Council’s role is for mobilisation and utilisation of resources. He added that the Council provided the boat for the community of Barajally in order to improve productivity in the rice fields. He also pointed out that the boat will not only help the women to have access to their fields, but play a key role in empowering them in the quest for food self-sufficiency.

Kemesseng Jabbi, Alkalo, thanked KAC for having taken this laudable iniative. He reaffirmed their unflinching support for President Jammeh and the APRC Party

Other speakers included Jay Kanteh, Alkalo of Sukuta, Aja Ceesay-Nding Minteh and Ballant Jabbi.
