Staff Sergeant (Sgt) Fanli Jabang, a member of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), has told the Court Martial at the Yundum Mlillitary Barracks that GRTS recorded the video cassette (Exhibit M), containing the appologies and appeals by accused persons in the March 21, 2006 foiled coup.

Staff Sgt Jabang made these remarks during a cross examination by defence counsels, Lamin Camara, Borry Touray, Neneh Cham-Chongan and Lamin Mboge.

According to the Staff Sgt Jabang, the recording of the video cassette was done in the presence of Momodou Sanyang, Director General of GRTS, who was accompanied by his cameraman and an assistant; two police detectives Abdoulie Sowe and Lamin Cham from the Major Crimes Unit of the Gambia Police Force; and two independent witnesses Tijan Bojang and Babou Loum.

However, Staff Sgt Jabang pointed out that the request to appeal and apologise to the general public and the President on GRTS, was made by Captain Wassa Camara, the third accused person. Staff Sgt Jabang further said that during the course of their investigations into the foiled coup, they recovered a mini tape recorder (Exhibit N and N1) with a cassette from Colonel Lang Tombong Tamba, Chief of Defense Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, and the coup plot preamble (Exhibit H) from the office of Captain Bunja Darboe.

However, state witness Staff Sgt Jabang, denied to had seen Captain Bunja Darboe with a broken hand at the time of the recording of the video cassette and during the course of their investigations. Presiding Judge, Justice Akomaye Agim then adjourned the case to February 8 for continuation.
