Basse Nawettan Resumes After Major Delayance

Sunday, November 4, 2007

After a break in observation of the holy month of Ramadan, the Basse nawettan competition resumed on Wednesday the 24th of October 2007 at the Basse mini stadium. The tournament, which should have started just after the Ramadan, was delayed because of a push and pulls between the Basse zonal sports committee and the interim committee that started the tournament.

The push and pull is all about what happened to the proceeds generated from last year’s nawettan tournament said to be in the tune of 84 thousand dalasi.

The interim committee was requesting for the audit report and how the money was spent and what happened to the amount said to be 10,000 dalasi to kick start this year’s tournament and which was not made available to them.

The team managers together with the interim committee refused to buckle and finally it was due to the timely intervention of the Governor of URR Mr Omar khan, that an amicable solution was reached.

Interesting matches will feature Deggo against T junction, Manju will lock horns with Sabusireh on Thursday and Manchester will play against the scorpions of Allunhari.
