Batabut Kantora Village team, last week, emerged winners of the 2007 Foni Bintang Karanai Nawettan trophy, sponsored by Bojang and Sons Welding Workshop.

In the grand final played at the Bajagar Football field, Batabut Kantora defeated Kaimo team by 2-0.

Batabut Kantora opened the scores just 40 seconds after the break through Musa Badgie, in a final attended by thousands of spectators from all corners of the district.

Ten minutes later, Batabut Kantora doubled their lead with Lamin S Camara netting a wonderful goal.

Kaimo team fought back very hard but could not penetrate Batabut Kantora’s defense.

At the end of the game, Batabut Kantora was awarded a giant trophy and cash prize of D2, 000 while Kaimo went home with D1, 300.

The Alkalos and a cross section of the community of the district attended the final.
