Wuli East Chief Passes Away

Reports reaching The Point intimate that the Head Chief of Wuli East, Alhagie Kanda Kasseh Juwara, has passed away. Chief Juwara died at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital on Sunday evening, and was laid to rest at 2pm yesterday at his village, Boro Kanda Kasseh in Wuli East, Upper River Region.

The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, among them the Assistant Governor of URR, Ms Kah, the Chairman of Basse Area Council, Kanimang Sanneh and the National Assembly Member for Wuli East, Honourable Bekai Camara.

Chief Juwara, one of few educated Chiefs, is said to have been one of the longest serving chiefs in the country.

Succeeding his father on the chieftaincy seat of Wuli before the division of the area into East and West, Chief Juwara won renown for his piety as a Muslim.

The late Chief, survived by many wives and children, is said to have been a highly respected elder in the region.
