Yiriwa FM holds Islamic conference

Yiriwa Development Radio Station, on Monday held its annual Islamic Conference and breaking of fast, at a ceremony held at its office complex in Brikama Sanchaba.

The ceremony brought together celebrated Islamic scholars and preachers within Brikama and   beyond.

In his opening remarks, Alhagie Sankung Touray, Imam of Brikama reminded Muslims to strenghten their love and sympathy for each other during the holy month of Ramadan.

Oustass Alieu Nget, speaking on the topic on LAILATUl QADR ( Night of Power) urged Muslims to celebrate the night in the most dignified manner.  

According to him, celebrating it with drumming and with only eating is contrary to the concepts of the Night of Power .   Oustar Nget   also urged Muslims to   behave according to the practices of Islam.

“ The love Allah have for the Holy Prophet, Oustas Nget, said is immeasurable and that he has extended the same love to his disciples.” He mentioned that other prophets before Muhammad (peace be upon him) has lived for more than two hundred years and has been fasting, but were never offered with LAILATUL QADR, by Allah. But he has given it to the Holy Prophet   Muhammad with abundant of blessings.

While delivering on alms giving on the day of Koriteh, Oustass Ba-Kawsu Fofana, a Muslim cleric and intellectual, said it is an obligation for all Muslims to give alms on the day.

According to him, the alms (Zakat) should be given before one goes to the praying grounds.

The ceremony was characterised by relagious songs, chaired by Imam Alhaiba Hydara.
