Senior Magistrate EF M’Bai of the Brikama Magistrates Court yesterday adjourned the April 2008 Babylon attack case to May 26 and 27 for the proceedings to continue.

During the last sitting, May 5, 2008, Buba Bojang had announced the atorney general chamber’s immediate decision to take over the prosecution of the case, with himself representing the state. He then applied for the case to be adjourned for him to go through the case files in order to get himself better prepared. And his application was granted by the presiding magistrate.

However, when the case resumed yesterday, state prosecutor Bojang told the Court that he had given the Court the promise to proceed with the case after going through the case files.

He added that he would once again apply for another adjournment base on two reasons. The first one being that he had requested for a record of proceeding for him to stand firm to carry out his prosecution effectively, and the second being that when he went through some files, he had discovered that there was a pending land suit filed at the high court, which he said involved the two communities.

"On the light of these, I am applying for another adjournment of the case", Bojang concluded. Presiding Magistrate M’Bai then granted the application without any objection from lawyer Antouman Gaye, the defence counsel representing a section of the accused persons. The case was subsequently adjourned to Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 May for proceeding.
