Four youths, Lamin Sisoho, Kali Bah, Morro Saidybah and Cherno Sissoho, appeared before Magistrate BO Jobe, at the Bundung Magistrates Court, charged with false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.

As per their particulars of offense, the four accused persons face four counts.
On count one, they were charged for obtaining money by false pretence between October 2007 and August 2008, at diverse places within the KMC. Still under count one, the accused, by false representation, obtained D1,430,000 from one Musa Trawally, by advising him to invest in their business which they had promised would yield him profit within a period of time.

On count two, they were charged with conspiracy to commit felony; the four accused having, within October 2007 and August 2008, at diverse places in the KMC, conspired to defraud one Musa Trawally of the sum of D1,430,000.

Count three states that Lamin Sissoho, Kali Bah, Morro Saidybah and Cherno Sissoho also did, in October 2007 and August 2008, at diverse places in the KMC, by false representation, obtain the sum of D47,000 from one Hajie Drammeh, lying to her that they had a lucrative business.

Finally, count four states that the four accused conspired to defraud Hajie Drammeh of the sum of D47,000.

They all subsequently pleaded not guilty to the charges, at which juncture, ASP Camara, the police prosecutor, applied for an adjournment to enable him to produce his witnesses.
The defence counsel did not object to the prosecution’s application, instead he pleaded with the court to grant the accused persons bail, arguing that their offenses were bailable, and that they were all responsible men who had valuable properties within the jurisdiction.

The magistrate therefore granted the four accused persons bail in the sum D200,000 each, or Gambian sureties in the same value.
Their individual certificates, indicating ownership of their landed properties were also ordered to be deposited with the court.
The case was then adjourned to October 1 for continuation of the trial.
