Wednesday, December 12, 2007

A grisly road accident around the Badala Highway- Kairaba Avenue intersection, popularly dubbed Traffic Lights, yesterday claimed the life of taxi driver.

Mr. Jim Jobe, a native of Ngayen Sanjal, met a sudden death when his car was hit by a truck from the front just as another car rammed his mangled vehicle from the rear, leaving him trapped. The unfortunate driver died instantly whilst passengers in his car, who were evacuated to the hospital, suffered serious injuries.

Habib Touray, a former colleague of the deceased, told this paper that he was devastated by the death. Touray, who was instrumental in the development of the Senegambia garage around the Traffic Lights on Kairaba Avenue, was visibly shaken.

Mr. Touray credited his late friend and colleague with his concern for the welfare of both his fellow drivers and passengers. He further described him as a ‘very’ hardworking man.

The late Jim Jobe is survived by his wife and two children.
