Brutal assailant convicted

Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates Court on Wednesday convicted and sentenced Ismaila Mboob, a resident of Manjai Kunda to a fine of D500, in default to serve three months in jail.

Ismaila Mboob was found guilty of assaulting one Ebrima Cham, whom he stabbed with a broken bottle on November 4.

The presiding Magistrate also ordered him to pay a compensation of D1,500 to his victim or in default to serve another three months in jail. Both sentences would run consecutively.

Sergeant 870 Touray represented the IGP in the trial.
