A contingent of students from the Gambia College recently paid a courtesy call on the secretary of state for information and technology at her office in Kanifing.

The students were led to Hon. Macduoll-Gaye’s office by the president of the Gambia College Students’ Sub-union and as part of the visit, a certificate was awarded to Secy Macduoll-Gaye in appreciation and recognition of her contribution to the promotion of the welfare of the collegians.

In his remarks during the courtesy visit, the President of the Gambia College Students’ sub-union, Mr. Lamin Kanteh, explained that the visit was a manifestation of his union’s appreciation of secretary of state Macduoll-Gaye’s ‘unwavering’ support to his union.

He appealed to students not to allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous elements who do not have the interest of the country at heart.

For his part, Mr. Baboucarr Mbye Saidy, a former chairman of the Gambia College Students’ Advisory Board, admonished the students to be alive to the challenges that lie ahead of them.

Also speaking on the occasion, Ansu Janko, Nutrition Minister of the parent student body, thanked President Jammeh for bringing quality and relevant education to the living rooms of every Gambian.
Ms. Sira Kumba Ceesay also made remarks during the visit, dilating on the role of women in enhancing rapid and sustainable socio-economic growth.

Secretary of State Macduoll-Gaye, for her part, said she was ‘deeply’ touched by the move of the students to pay her a visit as well as their appreciation and recognition of her contribution to the college.
She assured that she would show no sign of slowing down in extending a supporting hand to the college at all times.
