In over D37,000 trial Watchman testifies

Momodou Alpha Jallow, a night watchman, yesterday testified in the ongoing D37,000 trial involving Sunkaru Dumbuya, a driver, before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

In his testimony, Momodou Alpha Jallow told the court that he knows the accused, Sunkaru Dumbuya, as a driver.

He further told the court that on 13th April, 2007, after he had closed from work on his way going home, he saw the accused and another man in a shop belonging to one Momodou Touray, in Jimpex, loading goods into the car of the accused around 8am.

According to him, when he asked Momodou Touray’s, the owner of the said shop’s whereabouts, one of the accused persons replied that Mamodou Touray is coming.

Furthermore, he told the court that, the accused told him that they were sent by one Pa Assan and that they should take the goods to Manjaikunda.

He added that, shortly after they left with the goods, Mamodou Touray, the owner of the shop arrived and came straight to him, complaining that bucklers had broken into his shop.

“I told him that I know the driver of the car,” he added.
 
According to the old man, he and the complainant (Mamodou Touray) then went to one Dumbuya, the father of (Sunkaru Dumbuya) and explained the matter to him. He said Mr. Dumbuya told them that, his son went to Manjai Kunda with somebody to deliver the goods.

It was there that, the Kanifing Police were informed and one of the accused persons (Sunkaru) was later arrested.
