Bonu Johnson’s house attacked

Despite the heroic performance of The Gambia U-20 team in the on-going FIFA U-20 World Cup finals under the watchful eyes of coach Peter Bonu Johnson, some Gambian fans are still not convinced that the former Gambian international is the right coach for the Darling Scorpions.

Such disgruntled fans have launched a horrific attacked on the coach’s house situated at the Kombo North village of Kerr Serign with an intention of burning down the out-of-town coach’s house.

Daily Observer gathered that the youth attacked the coach’s residence immediately after Gambia’s debut match against Mexico-an ugly scenario that scared the coach’s wife into abandoning her residence.
Another victim of the angry fans is goalkeeper Joseph Gomez, whose mother, Mariama Jarju, is said to be enduring sleepless nights since the start of the championships.

Mrs. Jarju said her residence was stormed twice by unknown gangs who have threatened her with death as a better price for what they (gangs) referred to as Joseph Gomez’s shoddy performance in the on-going championships.

“Immediately after Gambia-Mexico match, my residence was attacked and I was battered with all sort of unruly and threatening words. It was the same thing during Gambia’s last match against Portugal and I see no sign of it ending if the security personnel do not intervene”, said the innocent and frightened woman.

Meanwhile, Daily Observer has learnt that security personnel have been deployed at Bonu Johnson’s residence to avert the future occurrence of such horrific attacks.
