The President of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Bai Matarr Drammeh, has affirmed GCCI’s support in efforts geared towards creating awareness and exposing relevant information on the funding instruments and opportunities available from Centre for Development Enterprises (CDE) and European Investment Bank (EIB).

“We all agree that all economies must be led by the private sector and we welcome this recognition by both the European Commission and the government of The Gambia. The creation of employment is a function of the business sector and a prerequisite for any viable development,” he added.
The GCCI boss was addressing the opening ceremony of The Gambia-EC Cooperation private sector workshop on the theme Technical Assistance and Financial Facilities from CDE and EIB held at the Kairaba Hotel recently.

According to Mr. Drammeh, the private sector must however find ways of promoting ethical and moral standards in their drive to develop relevant enterprises and make their own mission to cultivate a corporate culture, to at all times use resources positively in order to provide a better quality of life and steady social progress for every citizen.
“For this reason it will always be important and critical for us to focus on finding resources and launching projects,” he posited.
