The West African Insurance Institute, WAII, recently awarded certificates to twenty-two people upon completion of a diploma course for middle-cadre managers.
The presentation of the certificates was done in a ceremony held at Kairaba Beach Hotel and the training brought together participants from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of WAII, Dr. Prince Mbakey Okupolati, said the training was, inter alia, aimed at developing the capacity of participants in planning insurance, analysis, communication, time management and coordination.
He added that it would enable the leader develop his team and inter-personal skills, build self-awareness and confidence.
For his part, Hon. Musa Bala Gaye, Secretary of State for Finance and Economic Affairs cum Chairperson of WAII, urged participants to put the knowledge gained to good use as well as share it with others. “The training is expected to enhance your work and capacities to effectively apply yourselves,” he added.
Secy Gaye thanked WAII for conceiving and organizing the training as well as their commitment to the promotion of the insurance industry.
The President of WAII, Senor Thomas, challenged the participants to render quality services to the people for meaningful socio-economic development in their countries.
