Ten Years for Drug Trafficker
Tuesday, August 14, 2007
The long arm of the law has caught up with a Kotu Quarry resident and could now go to jail for ten years if he fails to pay a D1m court fine lately imposed on him by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court. Kalifa Jammeh was found guilty of being found in possession of 5k and 280g of cannabis sativa in violation of section 43(4) of the Drug Control Act as amended. His conviction and subsequent sentencing followed his own plea of ‘guilty’ to the charge preferred against him. The case was presided over by magistrate Edrissa Mbai and the National Drug Enforcement agency was represented by Abdoulie Ceesay.
