Dozens of residents in the villages of Kuntaur Wharf Town, Kuntaur Fulla Kunda and Touba Kuta in Central River Region (CRR) were last Sunday left homeless following a heavy storm that destroyed about thirty compounds and other valuable materials.

Mr Sainey Camara, one of the victims and a resident of Kuntaur Fulla Kunda said the rainstorm started around 8:45 pm while they were on the way home just after the usual congregation prayers at the Mosque when they were terrified by a heavy storm which lasted for about half an hour. “As I arrived home, I found out that my roof had been blown away. All my foodstuff with other valuable properties were all destroyed by the rain storm”, he added.

Mr Samba, another affected victim told the Daily Observer that his roof was blown away about 50 metres from the compound. “I spent the night with my family under the rain as we have nowhere to go. I lost many valuable things too. I am really in need of help from anywhere and in any kind”, he said.

He, however appealed to the government, philanthrophists and individuals for urgent help as some of the affected families are seriously in need of help.
