Passionate Appeal for Sami Flood Victims

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Following the destruction of over 40 compounds in Kuntaur and seven others in Dobo village, the National Assembly member for Sami constituency has made a passionate appeal for humanitarian assistance to the affected people.

The destruction of the 47 compounds was due to flooding engendered by torrential downpour that saw many villages of that part of The Gambia nearly submerged in flood waters.

According to Hon. Lamin Ceesay, the downpour did not only destroy foodstuff and livestock but had also caused colossal damage to farmlands.

He appealed to NGOs and philanthropists to help in lessening the problems currently faced by the affected families.

Hon. Ceesay could be reached on 9989469.
