Bakau Rule GFA Zonal Championship Wednesday, December 12, 2007 Bakau has been crowned winners of the 2007 Africell sponsored zonal tournament after defeating Banjul 1-0 in a replay final on Sunday at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium. Both sides keenly contested the final but it was Bakau who made all efforts to penetrate the defense line of Banjul and collected a surprise goal in the 41st minute of the first half through Sainey Ceesay. In the second half despite making numerous substitutions to equalise, Banjul failed in finding the net. It will be recalled that both teams drew 2-2 in the first final. As winners, Bakau received a giant trophy and cash prize of D25, 000 while the runners-up went home with D15, 000. The remaining participating teams received an amount of D6, 000 as a consolation prize.
