In Sheriff Minteh’s Murder Case Accused Secures Four Counsels

By Njie Baldeh & Alieu Jamanka

Dodou Janneh, the alleged murderer of Sheriff Minteh at London Corner some months ago in the process of a police crackdown in that suburb, has finally secured legal representation.

The development follows the accused person’s failure to secure legal counsel to defend him against the charge of murder brought against him before Magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay, who had since remanded the accused. Lawyer Tambedou, a private legal practitioner, informed the court that the accused would henceforth be represented by a team of four counsels with himself as the head of the defense team. Lawyer Tambedou said this on Tuesday when the accused was arraigned before Magistrate Saho-Ceesay at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.

The announcement brought appeared to bring some relief to family members who were at the court to witness the trial.

The case was however adjourned to 2nd July 2007 for the prosecution to open its case.

Prosecutor Jahateh represented the IGP at the trial.
