Investors storm Bissau

Sunday, May 13, 2007

Foreign investors - Chinese, Indian, Senegalese and Mauritanian businesspeople - are said to be flocking to Guinea-Bissau to invest there.
The Point reliably gathered that this influx of foreign investors into Guinea-Bissau is due to the country’s steady power supply.

Our sources also attributed this positive development to two key ministerial appointments. Mr. Yusuph Sangnia, a respected economist, has been appointed as the Minister of Finance, while Basiru Darboe now heads the Ministry of the Interior.

According to our sources, Mr. Sangnia’s close links with the World Bank and the African Development Bank will be of enormous advantage to Guinea-Bissau.
Mr. Darboe, who also has a wealth of experience in security related matters, is poised to bring lasting peace and security to the people of Guinea-Bissau.

In addition, our sources added, the bridge that connects Bissau to its neighbours is under construction. When it is completed, it will ease the movement of goods and people in and out of the country.
