Wallidan’s Senegal trip shifted

The proposed trip of Wallidan basketball teams (male and female) to Senegal for an international friendly has been shifted to May 25, 2007, Ebrima Sagnia, Secretary-General of the team told Observer Sports yesterday.

Both Wallidan sides, who won the league and knock-out titles in the just concluded national league season, were expected to travel to Louga, Senegal, from April 4 to April 8 for an international friendly basketball tournament that was to gather teams from France, Mauritania and other part of the region.

However, the inaugural ceremony of the President-elect, Maitre Abdoulaye Wade and the country’s Independence celebration has forced the organisers to reschedule the tournament from May 25 to May 28, 2007.

Secretary Sagnia said Wallidan sides are invited to the tournament-thanks to their long time standing relations with their Senegalese counterparts. On the impact of such outing, Sagnia said: “It will really help expose our players. It is also a bright chance for us to gather more experience”.
