Principal Commended for ‘Excellent’ Performance

Students at Abuko Upper Basic School have commended their principal, Mr. Biran Jagne, for what they call an “excellent performance”. They describe Mr. Jagne as a true principal committed, dedicated and more importantly, hard-working. They say that he imposes a high degree of discipline on both staff and pupils. Speaking to this reporter at the school recently the students said this discipline paves the highway for their success. They added that Mr. Jagne always emphasises the need for hard work and encourages them to embrace a spirit of hard work and discipline so that they can become the productive citizens of tomorrow. This will benefit both themselves and The Gambia as a whole.

Fatoumatta S. Jallow and Aja Fatoumata Jawneh commended Mr. Jagne for his contribution towards their welfare and getting the best performances out of all his students in both the sporting and academic fields. According to Aja Fatoumatta Jawneh, the easy access to writing articles and debates and quizzes between the students and other schools has enhanced the whole of the students and not merely the straight academic side of their education.

For his part, Mr. Jagne revealed that hard work is an intensive effort in the cause of an action. He stressed that students must make sacrifices to attain excellence in both their studies and the field of sporting achievement. These sacrifices include forgoing parties, pleasures and fun time for now to concentrate on their studies.

According to him idle hands are the devils workshop and with hard work and discipline one can never be named a failure.

The head boy Ousman Saho and his fellow pupil Muhammed Fufana also commended Mr. Jagne’s dynamism saying, “Mr. Jagne has made us hard working and committed to achieving our goals”. They added that all the teachers are cordial and committed to their work.
