President Yahya Jammeh, yesterday revoked the appointment of Mr Maba Jobe, the newly appointed Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, according to reports from the Office of the President.
The revocation - in line with Section 71(4)(b) of the Constitution - came barely six days after Mr Jobe’s appointment.
Accordingly, the President appointed Bala Garba Jahumpa, former Secretary of State for Works, Construction, and Infrastructure as the new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Additionally, he also appointed Susan Waffa-Ogoo, former Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture, as the Secretary of State for Trade, Industry, and Employment. Both cabinet appointments were in conformity with the powers vested on the President under Section 71(1) and 71(3) of the Constitution.
The Gambian leader then assigned the responsibility of National Assembly Matters to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, President Jammeh has transferred the portfolio of the Department of State for Works, Construction, and Infrastructure to the Office of the President, with effect from October 25th.
