Coaches, Referees to Hold Consultation Forum

Monday, November 13, 2006
The Gambia Football Coaches Association would hold a one-day consultation forum with Gambian Football Referees on Sunday at the Independence Stadium.

According to Pa Suwareh Faye, President of the Gambia Football Coaches Association, the aim of the seminar is to thrash out the differences and problems that normally occur between Gambian Coaches and Referees during league matches.

He expressed the importance of the seminar and described it as timely because it would be a very educative session that would also serve as an avenue of mapping out the way forward in the relationship between Gambian Coaches and Referees in the good interest of Gambian soccer.

Coach Suwareh Faye added that the President of the Gambia Referees Association Mr Badou Jasseh is expected to present a paper and Musa Njie, the Technical committee chairman of the Gambia football Association would also dilate on the topic.

He added that at the end of the forum, there would be a friendly match between the Coaches and Referees on the same day. He stated that the forum, which is entirely funded by the Gambia Coaches Association, is among many to be organised.

“The next forum would bring together Sports Journalist and Football Coaches as there is a need for Coaches to realise the importance of the media in the development of the game,” he pointed out.
