A report on the investigation into the 21st March foiled coup was on Thursday, 7th December 2006, produced before the general court martial and tendered in court as exhibit.
The report was produced by detective officer 185 Abdoulie Sowe following a request made by the defence for the court to order the production of the report.
On cross examination by the defence counsel, lawyer Jobarteh, detective Sowe told the court that the activities of the panel on the investigation into the foiled coup was contained in the report, but was quick to state that not all the activities of the investigation were recorded in the report.
He admitted that there was nowhere in the report showing that they recovered anything from captain Bunja Darboe, but said that the report suggested a break down of the investigation.
Detective Sowe also admitted that there was nowhere in the report that they have recovered a video cassette from GRTS, nor a micro tape and a small cassette from col. Lang Tombong Tamba. He added that he was led to captain Bunja Darboe’s office by Bunja himself.
He also responded in the affirmative to a question as to whether there was anywhere in the report and in the station diary that the accused persons consented or requested to appear before GRTS. He said the obtaining of the cautionary statements of the accused persons were recorded in the Station diary.
He said on the 24th March 2006, captain Wassa Camara narrated to the panel that he went to the Abuko Earth Station to receive transmitter fuses from one Ousman Njie, adding that when captain Wassa Camara was re-interrogated, he confessed going to the Abuko Earth Station to receive the transmitter fuses from one Ousman Njie and that the confession was recorded in the activity diary.
