Dr. Henry D.R. Carrol, Solicitor General of The Gambia, has disclosed that it has come to the notice of his office that certain legal practitioners in the country are involved in shady deals, saying that this is unprofessional and unacceptable.
According to the leading environmental lawyer and consultant, his office will not tolerate hanky panky and unprofessionalism from any lawyer. He warned lawyers to desist from dubious deals, saying: “Honesty and excellence should be their watchwords.” Dr. Carrol made these remarks on Thursday during the ceremony of calling Ousman Fafa Mbai and Omar Fafa Mbai into the bar.
It would be recalled that travelling magistrate Assane Martin sometime this year raised eyebrows accusing some lawyers of receiving money from their clients without giving them proper and adequate representation in court.
