Wade’s envoy, German diplomat meet Jammeh

Shiekh Tidiane Sey, the Senegalese Minister of Justice, yesterday called on President Yahya Jammeh at State House as a special envoy of President Abdoulaye Wade.

Speaking to journalists soon after his audience with the Gambian leader, Shiekh Tidianne Sey said, “I would like to thank President Jammeh for receiving me shortly after my arrival in The Gambia. The two Presidents have a good relationship and I am here today to deliver a message from President Wade”.

Minister Sey noted that The Gambia and neighbouring Senegal have a lot of bilateral issues and it would be good for the two Presidents to exchange visits to discuss matters that are of common interest to the two peoples.

In a similar developement, Ingrid Corr, special representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Gambia, also paid a courtesy call on President Jammeh.

Speaking to repoters shortly after her audience with the Gambian leader, Mrs Ingrid Corr said, “ I came to visit the President to inform him of my retirement and to bid him farewell, after serving as a Counsular for Germany for the past 30 years”.

Mrs Corr, who served in The Gambia for three decades, expressed her gratitude to Gambians for their hospitality. “I am grateful to all Gambians for welcoming me here and making me feel at home”, she said.
