The Social Development Fund (SDF), through Wassu VISACA Bank, last Thursday gave a loan of two million and eighty-five thousand dalasis (D2,085,000) to forty-three groups (Kafoos) in Niani to embark on small-scale businesses.

The money was disbursed to the beneficiaries at the office of the Governor in Janjanbureh and it is payable after one year with an interest of 14 per cent.

In his remarks on the occasion, the Governor for Central River Region, Alh. Amulie Janneh, called on the beneficiaries to use the fund accordingly and urged them to pay the loan on time.

Commending the Fund for the assistance, Governor Janneh said, “SDF was established to alleviate poverty in the country.”

The SDF micro-finance officer, Mr Lamin Jobarteh, said the loan was sourced from the community skills improvement projects credit funds to enable the beneficiaries to embark on income generating activities and to enhance their skills.
