Guaranty Trust Bank on Friday, January 12, defeated Access Bank 2-1 in the ongoing Governor tournament staged between the various financial institutions in the country.
The match, which was a replay fixture came after Guaranty Trust won an appeal lodged against Access Bank for fielding unqualified players in their previous match.
Instead of taking Access Bank’s forfeited three points-two goals, Guaranty Trust opted for a replay which eventually saw them proved their supremacy against their counterparts.
Guaranty Trust will now proceed to the second round stages of the tournament, where they will face International Bank for Commerce.
