Allasan Jammeh, former Commercial Director of the Gambia International Airline (GIA) and Hajj Coordinator, has been appointed Permanent Secretary No.2, at the Department of State for Local Government, Lands and Religious Affairs, the Daily Observer can reveal.
According to sources, Mr Jammeh received his appointment on Tuesday 25th September 2007 for the said portfolio, besides Abdoulie Manneh, who is the No.1 Permanent Secretary.
When contacted to confirm his appointment, Mr Jammeh said: “Yes, it is true that I am appointed to the said position. I received my appointment on 25th September 2007”.
It could be recalled that PS Jammeh has spent over 25 years in the airlines industry. He started as Internal Auditor, then as Credit Controller. From there, Mr Jammeh later became the Accounts Supervisor responsible for the production of the management account. He was later moved to the Marketing Department as Marketing Supervisor.
Later, he was sent for further training in Glasgow where he did his Masters Programme in International Marketing. After graduation, Mr Jammeh returned home and was promoted to Marketing Manager and Commercial Director of the Gambia International Airline, until recently when he honourably and voluntarily left the services, before he was appointed Permanent Secretary No.2, at the Department of State for Local Government, Lands and Religious Affairs.
