3 Gambians appointed judges

Ms Saffiatou Njai, Master of the High Court, Ms Nqui Mboob Janneh, Judicial Secretary and Ms Na Wadda Ceesay former Solicit-General, at the Attorney-General Chambers and the Department of State for Justice, were appointed judges of the High Court in Banjul , effective October 2007, the Daily Observer can reveal.

Justice Akomage Agim, president of the court of appeal of The Gambia, in his capacity as the acting Chief Justice confirmed the appointment of the 3 Gambian judges.

The Appeal Court President acting as the Chief Justice, is as a result of Abdoukarim Savage’s travel out of the country   on an official mission.  

According to Akomaye Agim, the 3 are indeed appointed to the position of judges in the High Court, but cannot say exactly the date of their appointment, but it is effective this month October 2007.

He also confirmed that Mr Haruna Jaiteh, is now the acting Judicial Secretary, but could not tell who has taken over the position of Master of the High Court, saying it did not come to his notice.
