Gambia’s 18-man squad selected for the upcoming Zone II tournament will leave Banjul this morning for Guinea Bissau, the host of the eight-nation biennial championship scheduled between November 30 and December 10, 2007.

The Scorpions’ squad, which is mainly comprised of home-based players, includes players from both the defunct Under 20 and Under 17 teams.

As expected, big names like Real de Banjul forward Pa Landing Conateh; Steve Biko’s pair Ousman Koli and Habib Kunta and Bakau United’s Babucarr Sey have all been named in the final selection.

The Scorpions who will battle it out in Group B, with the defending champions, Guinea Conakry, Mali and Cape Verde, will play their first group match on Saturday, December 1, against Mali.

Their second group match will see them lock horns with Cape Verde on December 3, before facing the defending champions, Guinea Conakry, on Wednesday, December 5, for the final group tie.
