Elimination threat looms over Gambia Zone II team

Wednesday, December 5, 2007
The Gambia Zone II squad faces an uphill task to qualify to the semi-finals of the ongoing Zone II Championship finals currently underway in Guinea Bissau.

The Scorpions lost their debut match against Mali and Monday’s goalless draw against Cape Verde in their second group match means the Scorpions are skating on thin ice ahead of their final group tie against Guinea Conakry today.

The Scorpion can only avoid early elimination if they can beat Guinea and hope that Mali, who have already qualified after fetching six points in two matches, punish Cape Verde.

Senegal and host Guinea Bissau, have already progressed to the semi-final stages from Group A, after both sides downed Sierra Leone in their group matches.
