Gamblood, an association of blood donors, has set-up a new executive committee to mobilise, recruit and maintain a new remunerated blood donors in the country.
Confirming this to the Daily Observer, Rohey Njie-Secka, President of Gamblood, said the new executive was selected by members of the association to run the day-to-day affairs of blood donation in The Gambia. Ms Njie added that Gamblood has been effective since its formation.
Ms Njie-Secka, however, appealed to individual blood donors, groups and the government to join hands with the executive committee to ensure sufficient blood in the hospitals.
Ms Njie-Secka disclosed that the other executive members included Alhaji Amadou Njie, as the Vice-President, Ebrima Sowe as the Secretary General, Modou Jallow as the assistant Secretary General, Babucarr Colley as the Auditor and Bai Mbowe as the Treasurer.
