R&B singer Bobby Brown has been jailed in Massachusetts after failing to pay over $19,000 in child support. The hitmaker, 38, was arrested on Sunday as he attended his youngest daughter Bobbi Kristina's cheerleading performance at Attleboro High School in Attleboro. Brown stands accused of missing payments to ex-girlfriend Kim Ward, mother of two of his children; LaPrincia and Bobby III, and has been ordered to stay behind bars for 30 days.
The singer's lawyer Phaedra Parks says Brown owes payments from January and late penalties, adding, "Although this agreement was put in place when he was Bobby Brown the star, this agreement is being enforced when he is not always able to find work. He hasn't made an album in quite some years."
An arrest warrant was previously issued for the star in October when he failed to attend a child support court hearing, but he swiftly paid $11,000 fees to avoid arrest. In June 2004, Brown was sentenced to 90 days jail after failing behind child support payments for three months. However, Brown paid $15,000 and the sentence was suspended.
Brown is currently in the middle of divorcing superstar Whitney Houston after 14 years of marriage.
