One of Scotland's most respected premier football club, Hearts of Midlothian has their eyes set on Gambian teenager, Ousman Sonko, officials of Sonko's team, Tynecastle United, confirmed this to Observer Sports.
"Yes, they are looking at him and as such we arranged for Ousman to go for trials at Hearts," Andy Gibson, team manager for Tynecastle told Observer Sports.
According to both Andy Gibson and Ousman Sonko, the trials were inconclusive as the physical fitness of Sonko was in question since he was fasting during that period and he never disclosed to anyone that he was fasting.
"Yes, that's true, I was fasting and you know it’s very difficult training while fasting. But am a Muslim and I did not tell anyone that I was fasting," Ousman Sonko confirmed.
Sonko went further to explain that he is still on course to finish the trials with Hearts. "Am just waiting for them to call me back and continue the trials," he said.
He, however, disclosed that he suffered a toe injury on his left foot a few weeks ago, during a training session with his amateur side, Tynecastle United.
"Someone stepped on my left toe, whilst in training with Tynecastle and because of this toe injury, I am been able to train effectively," he said.
But, he said once he is fully recuperated he will start training rigorously again so as to meet his ultimate goals in football-play professional football.
Reports from Scotland had earlier hinted that Hearts and other professional clubs have shown interests in the player.
It should also be recalled that Sonko allegedly claimed to have been taunted with racial remarks because, according to him, "he was playing very well."
