Hon Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay, the Speaker of the National Assembly, will on Friday April 13, and launch the maiden biannual magazine of the Africa in Democracy and Good Governance (ADGG) entitle “Windows on Africa”.
The Magazine will be looking at issues such as human right situation in Africa; upholding the rule of law and democratic principles; how far can our leaders be held accountable; the role of women in peace building; leadership and decision making; women in politics and good governance; HIV/Aids, among other others.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Observer, Edwin Nebolisa Nwakaeme, ADGG Director of Programs, said the launching of the magazine will also coincides with the first anniversary of the organisation, noting that delegates from outside and within The Gambia are expected to commemorate the two important events. He revealed that a press conference will also be held on the same day, as part of activities to commemorate the two important events.
He added that ADGG envision a continent characterised by strong and vibrant culture of human rights, democracy and good governance, founded on the principles of justice and equality to contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights, democracy and good governance in Africa. “Also by initiating and advising on programs and policies which will strengthen the institution’s responsibility for the protection of these sacred values in order to ensure human security, sustainable development and lasting peace.”
He added that ADGG was formed to contribute to the growing efforts that will promote and incalculate democratic values and principles to ensure good governance and public participation.
